PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

- CANDY RETAMOZA, HUG PRESIDENT

I want to thank everyone who attended the 2005 HUG Conference in Las Vegas and especially the application coordinators, user led presenters, and the volunteers at the registration booth and the business luncheon who worked so hard to make it such a success! The HUG Board is already preparing for next year’s conference and will be meeting in August to review the conference evaluations to determine how we can have an even better conference next year in Orlando.

I would like to introduce to you the 2005-06 Board of Directors: Robert Girndt, after serving two years as Member at Large, was elected to the position of President-Elect. Dominick Fiorentino moves to the position of Past President. Shelley Carmichael will serve the second year of her term as Treasurer. Steve Jones was re-elected to the position of Secretary for a two year term. Tino Anthony was reappointed as Member at Large and Anthony Sorce was selected as the second Member at Large.

Please join me in welcoming your new Board of Directors for the 2005-06 HUG year. I look forward with great anticipation to working with this Board and planning next year’s HUG conference.

WESTERN ROUNDUP WRAP UP

- DOMINICK FIORENTINO, HUG Past President

I am pleased to report that there were 1,337 registrations for the 17th Annual International HUG Education Conference June 6-10, 2005 at Bally’s in Las Vegas. Along with over 100 SunGard HTE representatives we had about 1,450 attendees. This is the highest attendance for a HUG conference in four years.

Congratulations and thank you to all who contributed their time, and talent in making this one of the best conferences ever!

I trust all of you had a successful Western Roundup and received good value for you education dollars. Now that the HUG membership has ridden “All The Horses You Need” we should all be better prepared to use the software in our daily tasks and to share the knowledge we received with our co-workers.

This past year I have had the privilege of working with a professional group of individuals on the HUG Board and I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication in making this a successful year for all of the membership.

To you the HUG membership I would like to thank you for allowing me to serve as your President this past year and for the trust you placed in me. It has been an honor to represent all of you and for that you have my deepest gratitude. It really has been an “Unbelievable” Cowboy experience for me.

Happy Trails to you until we meet again.

THANKS TO THE VOLUNTEERS

- Robert M. Girndt, HUG PRESIDENT-ELECT

The HUG Board of Directors would once again like to thank all of the volunteers who contributed their time and efforts to make the HUG 2005 Western Roundup “All The Horses You Need” conference in Las Vegas a great success. Volunteers are the heart and soul of our conference and without them it would be very difficult to accomplish everything there is to do.

It’s not too early to think about volunteering at the 2006 HUG Conference at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The HUG Board of Directors are seeking volunteers who are willing to devote a small portion of their time during the conference to ensure the conference is well-organized and meaningful for everyone. Volunteers are needed in all areas such as registration, lab monitors, and Board elections.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please go to the HUG web site at www.huginc.org, click on “Annual Conference”. Click on the Volunteer Request Form under the 2006 Conference information. After you have completed the form, click on the Submit Volunteer Form.

USER LED SESSIONS

- Candy Retamoza, HUG PRESIDENT

The HUG Board of Directors would like to thank the user led presenters who volunteered to present at the 2005 conference. You did a great job!

This year at the 17th Annual HUG International Education Conference held at Bally’s in Las Vegas, we had a total of 31 user led sessions. These presenters spent many, many hours preparing their presentations and added a great deal to the success of this year’s conference. All were well attended and the presenters did a great job of showing us how the software works in the “real world” for their specific agency.

Please consider presenting a user led session for HUG 2006 at Coronado Springs in Orlando the week of June 5-9, 2006. For more information on how you can be a presenter at a user led session contact Robert Girndt, HUG President Elect at Rgirndt@ci.mocity.tx.us or Candy Retamoza, HUG President at candy.retamoza@ci.stockton.ca.us. Let’s build on the success of the 2005 conference to make the user led sessions in 2006 even better.

NEW TO A RUG NEAR YOU – REGIONAL USER GROUP CONFERENCE WEB REGISTRATION

- STEVE JONES, HUG SECRETARY

The HUG Board of Directors has been working on a new registration process for the Regional User Group conferences this year. We have created a web based registration concept that is similar to the 2005 HUG Conference we just had in Las Vegas. The HUG Board hopes this will improve services to the HUG membership by making it easier to register for the RUGs.

The concept is fairly simple – have all registration and payments done through a web interface. This is to make it easier to register for the various aspects of the regional conference and pay with your choice of a credit card, purchase order, or check. This makes it easier to register for the conference as it reduces mailings and paperwork. It also makes it easier to manage the conference as all information flows into a database and reduces the need for data entry.

We intend to have all purchasable items pertaining to the RUG conference on the web site of www.huginc.org. If your RUG conference sells a shirt – it will be made available. If there is a fee for the off-site event – this will be also be available, as well as other items of interest to the conference attendees.

We hope to make your conference experience easier and better.

MESSAGE FROM SUNGARD HTE

- RON GOODROW, SUNGARD HTE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

June 10th marked the closing of the 17th annual HUG conference. Once again your HUG board, led by HUG President Dominick Fiorentino, did an outstanding job. The official attendance was 1, 337 customers, with 130 SunGard HTE staff members in attendance as well. The conference offered over 400 training opportunities covering over 250 different topics.

SunGard HTE’s President and CEO, Gil Santos, opened the conference discussing the pending purchase of SunGard by Silver Lake Partners and assuring the customers that the new owners support SunGard HTE’s strategy of growth and increased value to our customers.

Gil further outlined his objectives for increasing customer value, and investing in the staff at SunGard HTE in order that they may better serve our customers in order that SunGard HTE retains the dominant position it holds in the industry today.

The President of SunGard HTE further went on to outline his commitment to the ISeries (AS/400) in the coming years as well as the company’s past and future plans to expand into other platform choices.

While the overall conference was an enormous success there were also a number of successes inside of the conference. SunGard HTE unveiled Release 4.0, the latest release of SunGard HTE software, available in August of this year.

At a private breakfast meeting the President of SunGard HTE, Gil Santos, recognized SunGard HTE’s customers celebrating their 15th and 20 year anniversaries with SunGard HTE. The attendance levels were the highest of any HUG conference in the past three years, the golf tournament was an outstanding success, with fun had by all. Most importantly early indications from customers attending show that the conference was successful from all perspectives. The customers we heard from were excited and anxious to learn more about the new release and its capabilities.

Start making plans now for Orlando in 2006, get it on you calendar today…..See you there!

LOOKING TOWARDS NEXT YEAR!

- Tino Anthony, HUG MEMBER-AT-LARGE

As we close on another successful conference I immediately started thinking about how we can improve what we do and how we do it as Application Coordinators. To help stir the creative juices you the HUG membership made many suggestions on how to improve the Enhancement Request and Application Coordinator process. These suggestions will be discussed during our Board of Directors meeting in late August of this year here in Orlando, Florida. Look for changes in the Enhancement Request voting process, how we select Application Coordinators and which applications require the talents of Application Coordinators.

During the build up to our 2005 conference this year information was posted to the Enhancement Request section of the MYHTE web site. This information came in the form of power points directed towards aiding the HUG membership in the processing of your requests for both entry and voting. Please look forward to more of this as we try to provide to you on-line, as much information as possible to help you through the Enhancement Request process.

Have a great summer and I hope to see you all here in Orlando for the 2006 HUG Conference!
